Are you a graduate student, PhD candidate, or early-career researcher passionate about aquatic ecosystems and sustainable remediation? SSBIOREM1 offers a 4-day immersive experience combining theory, hands-on training, and cultural exploration in one of Italy’s leading marine science institutions.
What You’ll Learn
Bioremediation uses living microorganisms to remove pollutants from aquatic environments. The program blends cutting-edge science with practical applications:
∙ Day 1: Introduction to pollutants and the role of microorganisms in remediation. Lab: isolate suitable microbes.
∙ Day 2: Explore microbial strategies for pollutant degradation. Lab: build a microcosm.
∙ Day 3: Learn about MICP, enzymatic plastic degradation, and bioleaching. Lab: evaluate remediation performance.
∙ Day 4: Real-world case studies (e.g., LIFE SEDREMED), lifecycle analysis, and student awards.
Hands-On Experience
Daily labs led by experts offer training in microbial isolation, experimental setup, and performance evaluation.
