About

Fundraising skills and techniques are critical to have access to development grants and projects. Competition is fierce and international agencies and donors are increasingly demanding. Professionals interested in the international development market, working in NGOs, Consulting firms, Multi-lateral agencies should be familiar with development theories and practices as well as with practical tools to design effective and financeable development interventions. This course uses a “hands-on-approach” to fund raising 4 development combining theories and practices in a problem solving environment where you’ll have the opportunity to meet and work with development professional from all corners of the world.

This course has been designed to appeal to students interested in the aid/development sector as well as students who are interested in global fund raising for development. Interest on development related subjects is obviously an advantage and additional motivation.

Familiar with the evolution of the international development scene over the last 50 years.
Knowledge the structural elements of a development project. Describe the different stages of the project life cycle, particularly from the perspective of major donors. ;
Knowledge of the techniques used for the identification and formulation of development interventions.
Familiar with Results based Mangement principles applied to project design.
Knowledge of the Theory of Change applied to project design and difference to Theory of Action.
Familiar with international procurement procedures to implement contracts of good and services.
Knowledge of the process that leads to the submission of a technical proposal in an internationally funded project.
Familiar with pricing techniques on grants and procurements.
Capable of understanding and using budget templates used by major donor agencies.
