This course provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of international business and the institutions involved in the process. This course will draw upon high level meetings such as the Annual Meeting of the Academy of International Business and students will take part in a project to influence stakeholders in International business issues. Tailored seminars and case study exploration will enable students to produce and publish a finished documentation for social media, YouTube films or traditional commentary pieces addressing core issues of concern. We will teach each other and learn from each other by the use of analogies, parables, and examples - which will help us understand and remember.
Undergraduate students
To paraphrase the Austrian-born British Philosopher Ludwig von Wittgenstein: “If you are not part of the discussion you are like a boxer who never goes into the ring.” This course will place you into the ring by:
- Learning about the existence of a gap between international policy, research and business
- Enabling the use and meaning of international trade specific terminology and its major meaning and effects.
- Appreciating the rationale for government intervention in trade
- Reflecting the need for and opportunity of righting past wrongs
- Understanding the complexity of and participants in decision making in international business and trade
- Appreciating how to be effective managers of the business-government interface
- Providing helpful advice for preparing for life after graduation and the job market
- Gaining a broader insight into the ethics, corruption, bribery and lack of soul at a tailored seminar at Canterbury Cathedral
Fee
1650 GBP, Without Accomodation: £1,400 With Accomodation included: £1,650 Fees include full tuition for the summer school, accommodation, teaching materials, a welcome meal, farewell meal, refreshments each day, full access to the University library facilities and social trips each Wednesday and at the weekend into London.
