Global Health Case Challenge

About

The overall aim of the course is to strengthen university students’ competencies to propose solutions to real-world global health related challenges through a combination of academic skills and interdisciplinary and innovative thinking. As a part of the course, the students collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to develop and present their solutions to a specific case question selected by an external public or private partner, which may change from year to year.

Before the students meet on campus, they must have completed a 20 hours online course element consisting of lectures and mandatory readings on methodological and analytical approaches and case specific topics. Furthermore students are required to perform individual investigations, and a small assignment.
The on-campus element of the course includes four successive full working days in Copenhagen where the students work in teams to come up with solutions to be presented to and receive feedback from a panel of examinators on the fourth day. This session will be followed-up with peer feedback. By the end the panel will deliberate and announce (3) winning teams.

Knowledge:
- Demonstrate knowledge about the complexities incl. existing forms of problematizations in terms of e.g. equity and social justice of the selected global health challenge
- Identify the various stakeholders involved in the selected global health challenge
- Understand the principles of innovation, entrepreneurship and feasibility
- Understand the principles of effective communication

Skills:
- Identify, assess and integrate facts and data relevant to the case into the solution
- Integrate considerations of the complexities incl. existing forms of problematizations into the solution
- Apply innovation and problem-solving methods
- Co-create and communicate in a multidisciplinary and international context
- Create a feasible solution
- Pitch the ideas persuasively
