Hardcore Experimental Filmmaking

About

Over the course of two weeks, we will all produce new works of art out of 16mm film. Many people are exposed to 16mm art filmmaking through a course of study, but in the time after the course of study ends, they lack the structure and community ideal for fostering new 16mm films. The experimental film community (EFC) is unique among the many arts in its history and goals. Participants in this course will eschew traditionalism and learn and practice radical visualization. We will be exposing, processing and printing b/w 16mm film every day. We will learn from the past to conjugate possible futures; we will learn from each other because that’s how the EFC works; we will learn from our own films because they care about us if we care about them. At the end of the course, there will be a public screening of new, brain-melting films.
