Healthy Ageing

About

The increase in longevity of the population is one of the major achievements of the 21st century. This rapid demographic transition poses huge challenges to many countries in different areas. This two-week course will inform you – from different perspectives – about the factors that keep older people healthy and enable them to participate in society. In this multidisciplinary course on healthy ageing, we focus on a better understanding of the ageing process (biological, psychological and social), the prevention of functional decline and end-of-life care. Furthermore, visits to, for example, a Senior Friendly Hospital, a hospice and/or an innovative nursing home are included in the programme. We will also let you experience what it is like to get older. We will focus on a better understanding of the ageing process, the prevention of functional decline and end-of-life care. By means of discussions with other participants, you will get an international perspective on the ageing population, depending on the various nationalities attending.
