There are a number of historical libraries in Europe and elsewhere that are inaccessible or are not accessible to the scientific community or public. There are also book collections that are endangered because of their state of preservation.
The theme of the summer school will present different elements of a hidden library with particular focus on manuscript fragments.
Academic coordinators: •Prof Dr Erich Renhart (Graz, Austria) •Dr Marijana Tomić (Zadar, Croatia) •Dr Theresa Zammit Lupi (Valletta, Malta) Academic enquiries: Prof Dr Erich Renhart (erich.renhart@uni-graz.at)
The summer school within the Utrecht Network is open to students at bachelors, masters and doctoral level from the following fields of study: Library Science, Book History, Codicology, Book Conservation, Metadata and Cataloguing, Digitization Techniques, Cultural Heritage, Digital Humanities.
This Course aims at creating awareness on the issues connected to such collections in order to better preserve this kind of European heritage. It also offers various tools that help make visible on our screens what is so far hidden on shelves.
