This sumer school explores how reflexivity and interdisciplinary approaches can help address complex sustainability issues in the Anthropocene. During this summer school, students will learn to critically appraise decision-making processes in an original and interdisciplinary manner - and with a view to applying new decisional methods to address a range of sustainability issues and environmental challenges in different domains. Interactive workshops and real-world case studies complement the theoretical sessions, enabling participants to analyse and experiment with decision-making processes applied to concrete socio-environmental problems and risks
The course is designed for Master and doctoral students as well as post-doctoral fellows from all disciplines with an interest in the challenges of decision-making in the context of socio-ecological transitions.
Classes are conducted in English. Candidates should have a B2 level of English or equivalent.
In order to apply, candidates are required to provide a CV and a cover letter detailing their scientific interest in attending the summer school
Throughout this summer school, renowned and engaged speakers will explore how decision-making for socio-ecological transitions can and must be informed by interdisciplinary research. Morning sessions will be dedicated to conceptual and applied exercises introducing key frameworks needed to be able act with an βAnthropoceneβ mindset, including:
- Anthropocene and sustainability concepts
- Classical versus Anthropocene-aware decision-making models
- Stakeholder and systemsβ mapping
- Barriers and levers of change
- Interdisciplinary methods for transition research
