From 19 – 24 August 2018, the fourth edition of the International Cyber Security Summer School 2018 (#ICSSS18) will take place in the City of The Hague (City of Peace, Justice and Security). ICSSS 2018 is organised by a consortium of The Hague Security Delta (HSD) partners consisting of NATO Communication & Information Agency (NCIA), Europol, EY, Leiden University, The Dutch Innovation Factory at the Municipality of Zoetermeer and the HSD Office with support of The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, Certified Secure, and many other contributing partners.
ICSSS18 will host a diverse multinational group of up to 60 students and PhD-candidates during a six-day programme that allows participants to gain deeper knowledge and understanding of cyber security concepts. Themes that will be discussed during this summer school are behaviour in cyber space, understanding and visualizing the cyber threat landscape, and cyber crime as a service. During this week participants will learn about the latest developments and the cutting edge cyber security technologies that exist today and work on assignments provided by notable international organisations. In previous editions students of 19 nationalities participated in the programme.
In addition to receiving lectures from the organising (inter)national institutions, students will also receive guest lectures from experts. As the NCIA organisers note: "protecting our communication networks and the information on them is more important than ever. Cyber security requires an international approach. This summer school is one route for us to inspire and educate the next generation of cyber security professionals across the international community." Connecting future cyber security professionals with experts from diverse organisations in the field creates valuable knowledge communities and helps in providing access to talent in the field of cybersecurity.
The course is co-organised by NATO Communication & Information Agency (NCIA), Europol, EY, Leiden University, The Dutch Innovation Factory at the Municipality of Zoetermeer and the HSD Office with support of The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies.
