This course is an intensive, hands-on introduction to the fundamental concepts, methods, and techniques in collecting and analysing big data for applied social scientific research. The course is fast-paced and requires a substantive commitment, a pro-active attitude, and focused engagement

Course leader

Daria Dementeva is a PhD candidate in Social Data Science at ISPO, CeSO, expected to complete her degree in January 2026. Her research focuses on integrating novel geodata sources, such as OpenStreetMap, with public opinion data on intergroup relations, and exploring applications of machine learning in the social sciences. She has also served as supporting staff at the ECPR Methods School in previous years for the Big Data Collection course.
