About

How will Artificial Intelligence and technology change the future of law and legal services? Look behind the curtain of AI and legal technology and understand the trends that will influence your future career and the legal professional as a whole.

Intriguing questions

Can we use algorithms to predict court decisions?
Can we design routine contracts in a way that parties understand them without a lawyer?
Can we teach machines to exercise due diligence?
How can law firms use AI and technology and alternative providers to boost their service offerings?

Course Aim

Upon completion of the Bucerius Summer Program in AI, Legal Technology and Operations you will understand why legal technology matters and how AI will change the service provision in the legal market. Within the vibrant conversation between lawyers and technologists, the program will enable you to distinguish relevant information from hype. At the end of the program you will be able to use technology to tackle complexity and properly assess risk in a legal context.

This summer program includes an over-night study trip to Berlin and a two-day hackathon challenge.

Academic Directors: Prof. Dr. Daniel Katz (Academic Director of the Bucerius Center for Legal Technology and Data Science and Director of the Law Lab at Chicago-Kent College of Law) and Dr. Florian Skupin, Executive Director of the Bucerius Center for Legal Technology and Data Science

Target group

This program is designed for advanced law students and young professionals who want to look behind the curtain of legal technology and understand how it will effect their careers and the profession as a whole. Industry leaders, prominent researchers and field innovators will share their knowledge in hands-on classes and workshops. It is expected that participants can prove previous exposure to or interest in the subject area.

Course aim

Working as part of an international team, you will discover how to get reliable insights from legal data and understand the market mechanics of the legal services industry. During an over-night study trip to Berlin and a two-day hackathon, you will learn to how your knew knowledge it put into practice.
