About

Liverpool has been designated as a UNESCO City of Music for nearly a decade and has one of the most thriving cultural industries of the world. This module will introduce some of the key ways in which Liverpoolโ€™s music industry operates in the city region, and how artists, venues, and promotors create and sustain their energy and activities. Students will learn what โ€˜music industryโ€™ means for the modern city, how a local music economy functions and how it promotes its music to the world. A walking tour will provide a real-world introduction to Liverpoolโ€™s music industry, such as Philharmonic Hall, the Cavern Club, and grass roots venues.
