Moving on From the Migrant Crisis: Socio-Political Implications of Movements to Europe

However, the people who moved remain in Europe - and the medium and long term issues of managing diversity are only just beginning to be addressed. What is life like now for those who moved a few years ago and remain in precarious living settings with insecure immigration status? How are local organizations and institutions, in the places where numbers of recent international incomers peaked in 2015-2016, moving on from the crisis of arrival to longer term questions of integration and settlement? And what are the long terms implications for a ‘new’ European politics of the language of migration crisis, given the rise in populism and far-right political movements across many European countries? Attend lectures on migration and integration, listen to real life experiences, views and insights from people working in NGOs and public authorities managing migration flows and integration in Greece and volunteer on site with an NGO. > Main Themes and Activities Lectures - Workshops - Experiential Learning - Group Work - Coaching Sessions - Volunteering Students who participate in the summer school will attend lectures on migration and integration, listen to real life experiences, views and insights from people working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and public authorities managing migration flows and integration in Greece, as well as, volunteer on site with an NGO. The summer school focuses on making students aware of the wider political, economic and social implications of the migration flows and the new challenges rising from refugee integration, through a series of lectures, workshops, guest speeches and volunteering.

Through this summer school students will have the chance to: • Expand their knowledge on migration management and integration post-2014; • Understand how refugee and migrant integration affects every aspect of modern society; • Familiarize themselves with the challenges of integration; • Volunteer on site and understand how the life of people residing in refugee sites is shaped by the new realities
