OVERLAPS – Body and Sound Overlaps in Urban Areas

In urban niches we experience our bodies. How does my body react to space? How does a group of bodies change an urban niche?
The bodies produce sounds and react to the intrinsic sound of the urban niche. Our bodies carry the sounds from the outside space into the inside space. Is it possible to record the physical experience through the voice?

The day will be divided in 2 parts. for the morning we will choose specific areas as places near water (lake, river or channel), in green areas, railway side areas and explore the possibilities of response our body has to them. that may be movement, gesture, sculpture, an intrinsic emotional reaction, or a reaction expressed in the social behavior of the group. there will be a special attention to the sounds of the area - moving and listening should become more and more connected the afternoon session will take part inside an consist in the sound protocol of the morning experience. this means to remember and transform into sounds what you heard in the outside space and how you moved in the outdoor space. to make that possible, there will be preparatory improvisation exercises. if participants play an instrument, they may use it. otherwise, we will use our voices. the process of the protocol may include drawing scores, writing down your impressions and transforming these scores into sound. a special regard will always lay on the interaction of the group.
