This course traces the evolution of Paris from the Middle Ages to today. It explores major transformations such as Haussmannian urban planning, modern architecture between the World Wars, and the city’s portrayal in film, while also examining contemporary shifts toward knowledge-based spaces.
The Sorbonne Summer University is open to anyone aged 16 or over who wants to learn something new or improve their knowledge (minors must have parental permission). The course cycles are preferably aimed at people with a minimum of two years’ higher education.
For all courses in French, the expected level proficiency is B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. However, no proof is required.
