About

EMMEH 2025: Valuing Heritage to Learn, Innovate, and Inspire!

Co-organised by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Lille (largest French university at the crossroads of Northwest Europe) and the International Academy (summer university for international students and researchers in Hauts-de-France), the research-oriented summer school EMMEH 2025 is a strong 60-hour training programme focusing on the conservation, restoration, and valorisation of cultural heritage situated in the regions of North Africa bordering the Mediterranean Sea, in the Middle East, and in Europe.

Particular emphasis will be laid on preventive conservation, archaeology and excavation sites, climate change and its impact on heritage, new forms of museological mediation – with a strong accent on the renewable development goal.

Final scientific projects will be guided throughout the programme by continuous reflection on innovation and new ways of looking at the future of heritage to meet climatic, technological and societal challenges.

The summer school will take into account all types of innovative methods linked to an entrepreneurial vision, economic sustainability, digital development, and open communication related to heritage.

Midway between Paris, London and Brussels, at the heart of a high-performance academic and economic hub that makes innovation a priority, EMMEH 2025 will provide high-standard English-taught classes, scientific immersion in the field, as well as an introduction to research through a supervised project.

A smart opportunity to broaden your international experience under enjoyable conditions within a vibrant community of global peers.

#Keywords: heritage, museums, archaeology, excavation sites, conservation, restoration, mediation, exhibitions, climate changes, sustainability, risks, innovation, digital solutions.
