Re-thinking San Luigi – Design and Self-Construction Workshop

About

The workshop is a hands-on laboratory dedicated to the collective design and construction of temporary structures for exhibition displays inside the church of San Luigi Re di Francia, in Castelletto Uzzone, in the Alta Langa region. Participants will engage with the specificities of the space — light, proportions, historical materials and symbolic value — to develop display solutions capable of entering into dialogue with the existing architecture without altering it.
The programme includes a module dedicated to carpentry and woodworking: participants will learn to use hand tools and basic machinery, to select the most suitable materials, and to create structural joints and assemblies, gaining concrete, immediately applicable skills. The structures are built entirely by hand, with a craft-based approach attentive to the quality of detail.
The structures produced will be installed in the church for a closing exhibition open to the community. The workshop is open to designers, architects, artists, craftspeople and anyone interested in the themes of display-making, heritage and working with wood

Target group

The workshop is open to anyone interested in the subject, without age limits, as long as they are of age. The official languages ​​of the activities will be Italian and English

Fee info

The fee includes VAT, lessons, food and accommodation, as well as excursions and visits. There is no reimbursement for travel expenses to reach the Workshop location.
