The third edition of this summer school, which is a joint initiative of several European universities, will take place at the University of Bordeaux (France) with the support of partner institutions: EPFL (Switzerland), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), TU Munich (Germany), ZEW Mannheim (Germany), UniversitΓ Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, (Italy), TU Eindhoven (the Netherlands) and Google Inc.
Over the course of four days, course content will combine lectures and practical sessions allowing participants to discuss the most recent scientific literature and papers pertaining to this field of studies, thus developing their critical thinking skills.
Local and international experts from academia will lead a series of lectures covering major innovation studies. These will be followed by discussions between participants and experts. The programme also includes hands-on workshops and group work. Participants will collaborate in groups and present their research in dedicated sessions.
Participants, speakers and discussants will also be invited to dinners and social activities, allowing them to bond over meaningful conversations and quality time
The course is designed for doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows involved in innovation and science economics. Master students with an interest in pursuing research in this field may also apply.
Classes are conducted in English. Candidates should have a B2 level of English or equivalent.
Candidates must provide a CV, a paper or research project that they wish to present during the summer school, as well as a reference letter from their supervisor
This summer school offers PhD students a unique opportunity to progress in their research on the economics of science and innovation, whether they analyse how technological change shape economic growth and societal progress or investigate its impact on global challenges such as sustainability and equality. The lectures, workshops and presentations provide a focused setting to develop advanced skills for evaluating policies, testing advanced theories, managing large datasets, and reporting results in peer-reviewed journals
