About

Ceramics will be presented through an integrated archaeological and archaeometric approach. Students will have the opportunity to attend lessons on the history of research into the main classes (Italian, Gallic, African, and Eastern Terra Sigillata), on common and cooking wares and on the most widely distributed types of Roman amphorae.

The greater part of the hours will then be dedicated to practical activities involving the classification of ceramics from both an archaeological (typology, function) and archaeometric (production methods, provenance) perspective. Archaeometric aspects will be treated by Dr Claudio Capelli.

The Winter School will be activated with at least 4 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 12 students.

The Winter School will be held on campus in Pisa, Laboratori di Casa Pacinotti, via Santa Maria, 24
