About

We are excited to announce the second edition of the Summer School in Sensory Neuroscience (Master’s degree level), which will be hosted in Pisa as a Circle U. initiative (see the “Application” section below to find the link and detailed instructions).

Renowned specialists will guide a limited number of students through the complexity of the human mind and brain, tackled through the study of sensation and perception.

The Summer School is connected with the TNE initiative NEUROBRIDGE, which promotes exchanges with international institutions, and it is a Circle U. initiative involving two other institutions of the Alliance (besides the University of Pisa): Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and UCLouvain, which contribute to the teaching faculty.

There are no admission fees; all activities are fully funded. However, travel and accommodation expenses are not covered. Students from the NEUROBRIDGE partners are eligible for travel grants. Students from members of the Circle U. Alliance may check with their home institution for funding availability.

The Summer School will be activated with at least 2 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 30 students.

The Summer School will be held on campus in Pisa and it will be hosted at the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica dell’Università di Pisa

Course leader

Prof. Paola Binda

Target group

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Master’s level degree in the area of neuroscience or related areas. However, the school is also open to junior PhD and senior Bachelor students.

Students must be fluent in English, which is the official language of the Summer School

Course aim

The Summer School will focus on fundamental concepts of (multi)sensory-motor integration and on the main tools of the trade: neuroimaging, neurophysiology, psychophysics.

The scientific program will include specialistic lectures from leading scientists and hands-on laboratory experience, including a site visit to the ultra-high field Magnetic Resonance center Imago7.

Successful completion of the program will give students an overview of the current neuroscientific research in sensory and cognitive neuroscience.
