About

The Service Design Summer School is an academic summer school and held in English.
Service Design Blueprinting is a powerful tool for visualizing and optimizing the entire process of delivering a service, from customer interactions to backend operations. This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of Service Design Blueprinting through real-world examples, hands-on activities, and an interactive site visit to a local company. Over the three-day program, participants will learn to map out customer journeys, identify key touchpoints, and leverage technology to enhance service delivery. While the focus is on Marketing & Sales, the skills acquired in this course are applicable across various industries, enabling students to create innovative, customer-centric solutions in sectors ranging from retail to technology. No prior design experience is required. This course is ideal for those interested in integrating service design with digital tools to create seamless customer experiences. 

Online Kick off session: (3 teaching units ONLINE as a block between 23 - 26 June or between 1 July - 4 July)

Participants join the online kickoff meeting for introductions, team formation, and selecting the service while starting to define a customer profile. Before Workshop Day 1, participants explore the chosen service by using it, observing it, and reflecting on their experience.

Target group

Creative and curious students (Bachelor/Master) from the fields of business, marketing, digital marketing, sales, who are interested in the topics of service design, service blueprinting and customer journey.

Course aim

After successfully completing the course, students are able to:

Explaining the unique aspects of services in their creation and utilization using examples Describing the characteristics of service promises in detail and implementing them through examples Explaining types of attributes and purchase risks.

Understanding the fundamentals and importance of service design for customer-oriented services Applying service design methods such as customer journey mapping, persona development, and blueprinting Developing empathy for customer needs and expectations as a foundation for innovative services, creating, visualizing, and evaluating service concepts through iterative approaches designing services incorporating digital technologies and platforms.

Fee

450 EUR, participants who come from partner universities pay a lower course fee.

The course fee includes orientation & support course as described, teaching materials, certificate, use of library, participation in excursions and cultural program. The course fee does not include travelling expenses, accommodation and insurance.
