About

Summer School 'Reproductive Health & Rights' is a project at Ghent University, organised by students in cooperation with the university itself. Each summer, we welcome students from all over the world to the beautiful city of Ghent, Belgium. This year, for the third time we organize a 12-days educational program on the topic of 'Reproductive Health and Rights', along with various social and cultural activities. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience by broadening your view on this subject as well as to introduce you to the finest Belgium has to offer. The mix of nationalities of the participants guarantees an interesting multicultural setting, resulting in long-lasting friendships.

You will attend interesting lectures taught by renowned doctors and professors connected to Ghent University as well as other international institutions. Next, you can enjoy the mesmerizing green of our parks and have your breath taken away by our monumental cathedrals, churches and medieval dungeons. Discuss the day's lectures to the tunes of local musicians and invigorate body and soul with our peerless variety of beer and excellent Belgian cuisine. Education and pleasure have rarely - if ever - marched this closely in step.

Target group

Our target audience exists of medical students, law students, political and social sciences students, psychology students and students from faculty of arts and philosophy who have finished their 2nd year of the bachelor degree and are fluent in English.

Course aim

- further close collaboration and encourage the intercultural discussion and exchange of information with respect to other’s beliefs and grounds
- expanding the boarders of your knowledge together with students from different faculties and different cultures about subjects such as genital mutilation, IVF , female rights, gender diversity, abortion, one-child policy and surrogacy arrangements
- getting insight in the scientific side of Reproductive Health as well as the side of the policy making
- create a social context in which both Belgian and foreign students are offered a chance to discover Belgium and get to know each other in an informal way
