Welcome to Ruhr University Bochum Summer Schools!

Carried out at one of the largest public research universities in Germany, this Summer School will enable you to explore the development and academic discussion of energy systems, energy transition and sustainability in Germany. Through a combination of inspiring lectures and discussions as well as first-hand reports from specialists in the field, explore current possibilites and future trends of energy transition topics. Gain valuable insights into contemporary concepts and industry projects while immersing yourself in cultural life in Germany's largest urban area.

Course leader

Learn from experts in the field including professors from the Ruhr- University Bochum, EUREF and specialists in the Ruhr area.

Course aim

With the rise of global challenges like climate change, dwindling resources, and a surging need for energy, the call to shift towards smarter and more sustainable energy systems has never been more crucial. Traditional energy sources, known for their environmental impact and limited availability, are slowly giving way to innovative solutions that prioritize efficiency, smart technology, and environmental responsibility. At the heart of the already ongoing energy transition is the rapid development of new technologies, systems and concepts, as it is performed by scientists and industry experts in the Ruhr area - a region that has successfully mastered the structural change from a former coal mining area to one of the densest education and research landscapes in Germany.

This course will enable you to gain insight into a variety of topics related to energy management as well as smart energy systems and the advanced technologies needed to implement them.

1480 EUR, -All theoretical insights, interactive sessions and excursions on week days -Germany Transportation ticket (Deutschland Ticket) -Two Social evenings -Certificate of Completion from the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) - Hostel/ Hotel Room ( 2, 3, or 4- bed rooms) for a total 13 nights.
