Space Law & Artificial Intelligence

About

Artificial intelligence challenges our status quo due to its multiple benefits but also due to the risks posed by an active implementation of this advanced technology in our daily lives.
The Academy focuses on real life applications of AI in both digital and physical worlds, from Earth to Space.
On Earth we will analyze the legal implications of integrating AI in our societies, with a deep dive in technical and legal aspects (AI law) of various AI systems (autonomous vehicles, autonomous weapons, AI used in healthcare, in legal services, in the public sector and in the context of criminal proceedings).
Further, we will travel to Space and we will get acquainted with recent trends, such as NewSpace, while we seek to identify how Space Law applies in the era of advanced autonomous AI. We will analyze various space law topics such as space resources exploitation, ownership of the Moon and other celestial bodies, intellectual property, liability of states and of the private sector. We will also explore how AI projects are advancing space exploration (Rovers on Mars and on the Moon, Deep Learning for Space) and our modern lives on earth (Global Navigation Satellite Systems: GPS, Galileo, AI for Earth Observation and Climate Change).
