About

It is a two week English taught Summer School organized by the Faculty of Law at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Its aim is to provide students with an introduction to current topics of the Spanish legal, political and economic reality. Interactive discussions and audio-visual materials complement the lectures.

The program includes several visits to some of the most emblematic judicial, political and financial institutions located in Madrid guided by experts.

Target group

It is targeted mainly at international students from any field of study or profession who wish to become acquainted with basic current aspects of the Spanish legal, political and economic reality, and acquire first-hand knowledge of some of the basic institutions in Spain.

Spanish students interested in the course are also welcome to apply.

In all cases it is necessary to have a good command of English (at least B2 level is recommended).

Contents: Criminal justice / Unemployment and cohesion policies / Territorial organization of the state / Trafficking of human organs / Young people and politics / Environmental policy / Private Law / Labour market / Gender and rights / Protection of human rights / Economic databases / The Monarchy / Administrative Justice / Intellectual Property / Relations between Spain and Latin America / Tax policies.

Visits: Congress / Senate / Royal Palace / Supreme Court / Constitutional Court / International Agency for Cooperation and Development / Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation.
