This module introduces various concepts, tools, and practices for forming a new venture. During our sessions, we will explore the world of entrepreneurship and what makes a start-up successful. We will also work with you to create your own company and help you designing your startup from the idea generation to the development of a fully developed business plan. Some examples of the topics covered in the module are entrepreneurial finance, business model design, industry and market analysis, and intellectual property rights. This module has a fair balance of theory and practice. Together with you, we want to apply these concepts and tools in an entrepreneurial context. By forming groups, you will collectively employ different aspects of entrepreneurship to launch a new venture successfully. Over the course of the module you will do research on your chosen idea, including your plan for resourcing, staffing and funding the venture, determining its channels, markets and customers, as well as its position in a value network or ecosystem. We expect your business ideas to be traditional commercial enterprises, social enterprises, or hybrid organisations. The learning approaches we will use in this module are very interactive and will include lectures, class exercises, discussions, and some work with case studies. We expect that you will rise to the challenge to design and construct the plan for a new venture and the sessions and preparation tasks will give you the background knowledge and entrepreneurial skills required
