Tasting Latvian Language

About

Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) offers students, academic staff and all interested parties who are willing to acquire the Latvian language (without preliminary knowledge) to take part in the RTA international summer school of the Latvian language and culture Taste Latvian. The summer school will take place from 9th – 18th of August in Rezekne, Latvia.

Each day the participants of the summer school will be able to learn the Latvian language in the intensive sessions by using the newest and most effective foreign language acquisition methods. There will be an opportunity to straight off apply the obtained knowledge in practice by visiting tourist attractions that offer dishes of the culinary heritage of Latgale and introduce with the recipes of these dishes. The knowledge of the Latvian and Latgalian culture will be complemented with trips around Rezekne which is also known as the city in the heart of Latgale. There will also be a trip to a traditional culture centre of Latgale called „Latgaļu sāta”, a trip to the RTA Food Processing Laboratory and a trip to the oldest city in Latvia – Ludza and its Craftsmen Centre.

The participants will be able to combine all the summer school adventures into a self-made video sequence. There will be an opportunity to be inspired by going to the International Short Film Festival Open Place, whereas in the creative workshops of media it will be possible to increase knowledge in this sphere.
