If you’re curious about how Europe really works – politically, economically, and institutionally – this module is the perfect choice.
In The European Union – Policies, Decisions and Economy in a Global Context, you will explore how the EU is structured, how its major institutions make decisions, and how European laws influence everything from international trade to everyday life. Through case studies, discussions, and practical examples, you’ll learn to analyse key policy areas and understand the EU’s role on the global stage.
By the end of the course, you won’t just know what the EU is – you’ll understand why it matters and how European politics and economics shape the world around us. It’s an ideal module for students interested in international relations, business, public policy, or anyone eager to deepen their understanding of Europe from within Europe.
Expect lively discussions, real-world cases, and an engaging, practical teaching approach that makes even complex topics accessible and exciting
Dr. Anke Steinhoff
The intense short-term programme is designed for bachelor and master students who are at least in their second year of studies with a solid Business, Management or Engineering background
This module gives you a clear, practical understanding of how Europe works – economically and politically. You will explore the forces behind European integration, learn what shapes the EU’s internal market, and understand the real opportunities and challenges businesses face across different member states.
At the same time, you will dive into international politics: why reliable global relationships matter, how organisations like the UN, WTO, and ILO operate, and how international decisions influence everyday life.
The aim is simple: to help you think globally, analyse complex issues with confidence, and understand Europe’s role in the world from a business and political perspective
