From 9 – 13 July 2018, the first edition of the The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School (NICSSS) will take place. The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School is co-organised by the International Institute for Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, E2Labs, SkillCube, KrypC, the Municipality of The Hague and many others.
The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School will host Master’s students and PhD-candidates with Indian citizenship. These participants are either already residing and studying in the Netherlands or are currently studying in India. The Summer School will welcome approximately 40 Indian students who will come to and participate in The Hague and approximately 50 Indian students who will stay in India and follow lectures in Hyderabad. Web conferencing will be used so that students on each side of the world can follow each other’s lectures.
Cyber security is a major global challenge, among others because of the growing number of cyber attacks and incidents which threaten individuals, businesses and states. Besides being a global challenge, however, cyber security is also a particularly pertinent topic for Indian society. India is turning into a digital society, for which cyber security will be extremely relevant. The summer school also takes place against the background of the increased cooperation between the Municipality of The Hague and India.
The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School will consist of a five-day programme that allows participants to gain deeper knowledge and understanding of cyber security concepts. During this week participants will learn about the latest developments and the cutting edge cyber security technologies that exist today and they will work on assignments provided by notable organisations. Tentative themes of the The Hague India Cyber Security Summer School 2018 are the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and norms in cyberspace. In addition to receiving lectures from the organising (inter)national institutions, students will also receive guest lectures from experts. Currently involved partners are NATO C&I Agency (NCIA), the NALSAR University of Law and the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad.
