CityLab XII: Age-Friendly Cities

About

How accessible are urban environments for older people? How age-proof are mobility infrastructure, daily amenities and local policies?

In this summer school, we offer a comprehensive understanding of the main challenges in research, policy and practices to ageing in cities. Through an inter- and transdisciplinary approach, workshops with experts and field visits, we will explore good practices that support older adults to make optimal use of their urban environment.

Target group

This interdisciplinary summer school welcomes students, researchers, and urban professionals from various disciplines. A professional or academic bachelor’s degree is required. Some experience with urban planning, social inclusion, ageing populations, and/or participatory research is recommended.

Course aim

By the end of the programme, the participant will:

have developed a critical and interdisciplinary understanding of the importance of the opportunities and challenges experienced in cities related to the specific topic of the CityLab.
have developed a critical and interdisicplinary understanding of possible responses from city policy, planning and other practices to the opportunities and challenges related to the specific topic.
be able to develop and express a critical viewpoint on the CityLab's topic, informed by scientific literature, academic debates and case studies.

Fee info

The tuition fee includes course material, coffee and tea, lunch, one welcome dinner, social activities and farewell reception. It does not include travel and accommodation.
