Craft Camp introduces Estonian handicraft by giving an overview of traditional handicraft techniques from Estonia and the modern usage of those techniques. In 2025 we are offering 1-day and 2-day workshops for both beginners* and advanced-level** participants. There are three different workshops each participant can attend during the camp. All the instructors and teachers are qualified and experienced masters of their field.
2-day workshops on July 14th-15th:
1. Knitting: Patterns with Traveling Stitches from Ruhnu Island **
2. Sewing: Cotton Jackets from Kihnu Island */**
3. Weaving: Pick-Up Woven Belt */**
4. Woodworking: Small Wooden Tools for Crafts */**
1-day workshops on July 17th:
1. Blacksmithing: Coat Rack */**
2. Crocheting: Laces from Hiiumaa **
3. Goldsmithing: Brooch with Punched Pattern */**
4. Other Textile Techniques: Traditional Mending Techniques *

During the camp, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Estonian traditional handicraft and learn how to use various techniques. The experience will be enriched by our additional cultural programme, including a field trip to Kihnu, a live concert, lectures, and other craft-related activities to connect with fellow enthusiasts!
The working language of the camp is English. Most workshops and field trip activities will be in English or will be translated from Estonian to English.
The camp takes place in Viljandi. The workshops are held at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy's Vilma building (Turu str 7)

Upon completing the course, learners will be able to:
1. Understand the characteristics of Estonian traditional handicraft.
2. Use traditional techniques in modern context.
3. Create handicraft projects with traditional methods
