The worsening of the climate crisis is omnipresent. Serious climate-related developments, such as the increasing frequency of extreme weather events make us acutely aware of the fact that climate change is threatening humanity globally and already today. It is therefore all the more important that science and research devote themselves to tackling it. Only a strong alliance of civil society, science and business can find the necessary solutions to the problems of our time. Climate change concerns almost all research areas of our university. We are therefore firmly convinced that the right way to deal with climate change can only be found in an interdisciplinary dialogue.
The Munich Climate School (MCS), established in 2021, is the first truly interdisciplinary summer school of its kind. Since 2022, it has also included in-person participation. In 2026, the sixth Munich Climate School will once again be held as a hybrid event.
We present a team of outstanding professors in their field who are addressing the greatest challenges of our time. They bring research and teaching experience as well as a desire to try new approaches. Our mission is to engage in a dialogue with students, present our research, and work towards a vision for our society.
We believe, that experience is the best teacher. That is why a COP-simulation is an integral part of the summer school β giving you hands-on experience what it means to negotiate an international climate framework. In addition, it features an engaging social and cultural program in and around Munich β a city with a long-standing commitment to environmental and climate protection, inspired by its close connection to nature.
Although climate change affects everyone, the younger generation has a particularly important role to play in addressing its challenges. Thatβs why we want to offer you the opportunity to learn and understand the interdisciplinary foundations of climate change early on β so you can be well-prepared to meet the demands of both today and the future.
We look forward to welcoming you β both in person and online β to engage in discussions on the most pressing issues of the coming years and decades!
Prof. Dr. Satzger
The Munich Climate School is particularly aimed at students of all disciplines, but is of course also open to interested doctoral students and young professionals in relevant fields.
All lectures and discussions will be held in English β a sufficient understanding of the language is therefore necessary.
