In our English course, you will effectively improve your English skills in small groups and with close professional support! We offer you challenging and lively language classes with native-speaking teachers from countries such as Great Britain, the USA, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Decide for yourself whether you want to register for two or four weeks and which language aspect you would like to improve – we have the right offer for you!

In the two o four weeks, you can deepen your listening and reading comprehension as well as your writing and speaking skills. With competent support and in small groups you can build and expand your vocabulary and your grammar and phonetic skills. The main focuses are on communication and the use of English language in an academic context. In addition, you will learn insightful and interesting facts about the English-speaking countries, their culture and their people. If you have topics or suggestions of your own, do not hesitate to contribute them to the class.

You can either take part in one of the two-week-courses or you can register for the cost-effective four-week intensive course if you want to develop both your communication skills and your English in an academic context.

(1) English Communication Skills: Presentations and Negotiations (B1-C1)

The first part of this two-week course aims to train specific skills required for giving presentations and informal talks in English: how to introduce oneself, maintain a clear structure, interact with an audience, use visual media, deal with questions, etc. The second part will focus on developing the language skills required for successful negotiations in a variety of contexts. The atmosphere will be relaxed and informal throughout, helping participants break down any inhibitions they may feel about speaking in public.

(2) English for Academic Purposes (B2-C1)

This two-week course will concentrate on written English in an academic context. The workshop nature of the course will encourage participants to produce short texts on a variety of subjects and to use them as a basis for identifying areas of difficulty and working on them constructively. The course will also provide useful tips on aspects such as style, structure and coherence. In addition, participants will be encouraged to develop effective strategies for reading academic texts in English. The approach will be creative and informal, encouraging participants to share ideas and learn from each other’s work.

After class, you will have further opportunities to immerse yourself in the English language: our varied social programme offers many opportunities to connect with other Summer School participants from all over the world. Have a relaxed chat at one of our game nights, improve your listening comprehension with a free visit to the cinema, expand your vocabulary with delicious ingredients at our international dinners, sing a song at a karaoke evening, and more.
