Old Slavonic Language - Beginners

The opening lesson will introduce them to the history of the language, the context of its creation, the earliest available sources, and the Slavonic Cyrillic script. These classes are meant to provide an overview of phonetics and morphology, while the most frequent syntactical structures are studied through reading texts.
The course will be held 5 days a week, for two weeks, with 4 instruction hours per day, for a total of 40 course hours.

Target group

The course is intended for beginners who have no previous knowledge of this language.

Course aim

By the end of the course, students should be equipped to read short excerpts from the Bible and hagiography and to make good use of the resources which are currently available to students of Old Slavonic.
