Sweet 16 is a six day creative exploration of the art of 16mm filmmaking.

Course leader

Ute Aurand, born in Frankfurt/Main, West Germany in 1957 and raised in Berlin, studied at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) from 1979 to 1985. Juan David González Monroy, born in Colombia, is a filmmaker based in Berlin.

International participants

Course aim

In this hands-on workshop, international participants will learn the basics of artistic analogue filmmaking with 16mm film. The focus is on experimenting with the material and alternative forms of filmmaking. To this end, each participant will learn how to use a Bolex camera, shoot a roll of 16mm film and develop it by hand. The finished films will be edited and projected at the end of the workshop.
