Decision-making and managerial skills are affected by cultural differences, often in subtle ways. Based on the specificities of French culture, the participants will identify and manage cultural situations with kindness and tolerance, allowing them to understand the interactions between cultural differences and the workplace.
The participants will also discover the characteristics of the French style through the wine, jewelry, perfume, and luxury industry markets.

The course is composed of two modules :
Module 1 : French excellence and savoir-faire
Module 2 : French culture and society

Target group

Undergraduate / Bachelor students from any academic background, or recent graduate with less than two years of work experience

Course aim

Module 1 : French excellence and savoir-faire
The aim of this course is to clarify the different elements contributing to the success of this sector and the implications that can be extended to other sectors in order to improve their operation through the establishment of a luxury strategy.
The purpose of this course is to allow the student to:
• benefit from an increased general culture because of the social, societal and economic implications of such an industry
• be an informed consumer
• better understand an economically and symbolically powerful industry around the world

Module 2 : French culture and society
The goal is to observe and fully understand the various components that make up French society and culture today. Students will learn about France in an interesting, interactive and fun manner that the professor has created and refers to as French “Culturosity”. Students will come to terms with understanding the French in a way that will help them accept and tolerate cultural differences.
This process will also help students to build bridges in the intercultural work force later on. The course will help students obtain “Cultural Intelligence” (known as CQ) in general and transform them into pertinent cultural observers. By doing so students will develop the notions of international openness, multiculturalism and diversity while promoting academic inclusiveness.
