International Entrepreneurial Finance
This course will introduce attendees with the essential financial concepts and techniques associated with the financing of entrepreneurial start-up ventures. Financial instruments such as equity and debt will be introduced along with their valuation principles, the corporate governance implications arising from these financing methods, and financing entities such as informal Business Angel financing as well as more formalized Venture Capital and Private Equity early stage financing. The relevance of these financing techniques will be outlined throughout the entrepreneurial lifecycle of nascent ventures and internationally too, where attendees will develop an enhanced appreciation of international entrepreneurial landscape.

This course is open to anyone aged 18+
Course aim
(1) develop a deeper appreciation of the financing decisions behind entrepreneurship;
(2) critically appraise the scope and scale of entrepreneurship environment around the world based on the availability and type of entrepreneurial finance prevalent;
(3) develop skills in the evaluation of entrepreneurial ventures and projects through the lens of business angels or venture capitalists;
(4) gain understanding of the importance of the governance of entrepreneurial ventures and how it's adoption determines access to financing

This course is equivalent to 15 Southampton credits (7.5 ECTS, 3-4 US Semester Hours), but is not officially credited. All students must speak with their home university if they wish to take this course for credit transfer purposes.
Fee info
GBP 2250: Tuition fee, includes application fee, 3-weeks of tuition, any field trip related to the course, full social programme, Southampton bus pass and a University of Southampton hoodie
GBP 1245: Optional accommodation fee includes 3-weeks accommodation in University of Southampton Halls of Residence, with breakfast everyday and dinner from Monday - Friday.
