The student will be able to:

-deliver endeavors of mental health promotion on community and individual level
-give information about mental health service systems in Finland and Europe
-explain the main elements of mental health-/psychiatric disorders
-recognize the early signs of mental health crises and who to help and empower people in crises situations
-help clients on their way to recovery and rehabilitation
-student knows the possible mental health services centers of public, private and voluntary sector

Course aim

Content:

-How to interact in a group
-Elements of mental health on individual, family and community level
-Care of psychosocial traumatic crises
-Mental health services in Finland and Europe
-Main psychiatric disorders
-Recovery, rehabilitation and open dialog
-Service users involvement / experts by experience
-The use of art in the way for recovery
-Motivational interviews

3 x 27 h. = 81 hrs. 6 days contact learning in classroom/ study visits. Lectures 30 h, study visits 6 h, group work 22 h, individual work 23 h.
