From Data to AI: Social, Ethical and Legal Dimensions

This course looks at the latest technological advances in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its social, ethical and legal challenges. To understand these challenges, however, we need to start at the very beginning or the very essence of AI: data. When we talk about data, we must focus on personal and sensitive data, which are particularly protected by the EU and the most valuable for AI. In this course, we will learn not only why they are protected, but also how to then explore the question of whether the functioning of AI challenges this normative standard and how to deal with the potential challenge
