About

This multidisciplinary course will provide you with insight into relevant issues on the topic of migrant inclusion across three domains: economic inclusion, social inclusion, and migrants’ access to public services, healthcare and housing. Through engagement with experts from a variety of disciplines, students will gain a multidisciplinary perspective on one of today’s most debated issues: migrant inclusion policies and practices.

The course is designed for anyone with an interest in the field of migrant inclusion. We welcome students and professionals who would like to gain an overview of various topics relating to migrant inclusion, and who wish to develop their ability to understand and critically assess policies and practices relating to migrant inclusion.

Course aim

After this course you are able to:

- Engage in current multidisciplinary academic debates on policies and practices regarding migrant inclusion.
- Gain insight in the effects of various policies on the inclusion of migrants in various domains: intended as well as unintended effects; and the effects of policies specifically aimed at inclusion of migrants in specific domains as well as the effects of general policies (not specifically aimed at migrants) which may facilitate or hinder migrant inclusion in specific.
- Analyse cultural expressions of migration inclusion from a discourse analytical.
- Identify issues regarding migrant inclusion and develop an interdisciplinary inclusion policy or practice based on the multidisciplinary academic discussion (see learning outcome 1).
