About

Milano ModaLab is an intensive two-week programme designed for fashion enthusiasts and aspiring designers and creatives. Hosted in Milan, the global fashion capital, this course offers a unique blend of hands-on workshops, expert-led lectures, and exclusive visits to renowned fashion houses and ateliers.

Participants explore key aspects of the fashion industry, including trend forecasting, how the fashion system works, design and garment construction, styling and photography, fashion communication. With guidance from fashion professionals, students gain insights into the latest trends, sustainable practices, and the creative processes that drive the world of contemporary fashion.

Throughout the programme, participants work on different projects, culminating in a presentation where they can showcase their portfolio. Milano Moda Lab is perfect for those looking to enhance their skills and get inspired by the vibrant culture and lifestyle of Milanese fashion.

Target group

Creative students, fashion enthusiasts, aspiring designers and creatives. Age: 16 - 30 years.

Course aim

1. Fashion System: This module introduces you to the world of fashion and its dynamics. You will learn how the fashion industry is structured, what a fashion week entails, and how to analyze a fashion show to forecast upcoming market trends.
2. Fashion Design: The module covers basic principles of fashion design, including how to conduct iconographic research, create a moodboard, and visualize new ideas through drawing and collage. You will also learn how to source materials and fabrics, as well as how to design garments using upcycling techniques.
3. Fashion Communication: This module introduces you to the methods and techniques of fashion journalism, social media, and communication, from both brand and magazine (online/print) perspectives.
4. Fashion Styling and Photography: You will learn how to create an editorial / commercial adv, to organize a photoshoot, selecting the right pieces, and to create a captivating visual story, with access to the School’s Photo Studio.
