Solar Installations in Productive Environments

About

Are you interested in becoming a real professional on solar energy and helping your community? If so, this course is for you!

This course offers future engineers and professionals the opportunity to take advantage of the experience of the University of Almeria in training related to solar energy applications, in particular the advances in the MICROPROD-SOLAR project of the Ibero-American Science and Technology CYTED Programme involving universities, research centres and companies from Spain, Chile and Mexico. Specifically, you will learn the basics of solar thermal and photovoltaic installations, from (1) the evaluation of solar resources, (2) solar thermal energy to (3) solar photovoltaic energy. One of the strong points of this course is its teaching methodology, as it has a great practical component, with visits to different installations, such as CIESOL centre, IFAPA centre, the Solar Platform of AlmerĂa (PSA), and a cannery company powered by solar thermal and photovoltaic energy in the north of Almeria.

In addition to the academic content, our Study Abroad courses include an attractive cultural programme full of activities and trips especially for you, so that you can make the most of your stay in our city and university!

Note: you can find more detailed information on our website.

Course leader

Manuel PĂ©rez GarcĂa

Target group

Undergraduated, and master students.

Course aim

1. Providing course participants with the neccesaty fundamentals for understanding and subsequent modeling of the matter and energy exchange processes that take place in solar thermal and photovoltaic energy exchange processes in solar thermal and photovoltaic systems

2. Learning how to estimate quantitatively the energy resource of solar radiation from its astronomical, geographic, and climatic patterns, as well as to learn how to optimize its use by means of solar conversion devices

3. Identifying and understanding the operation of the elements that make up solar thermal and photovoltaic installations, as well as their types and configurations

4. Gaining calculation skills that allow the design and basic dimensioning of thermal and photovoltaic elements that make up the thermal and photovoltaic installations suitable for their integration in production processes in isolated places.
