Teen “Actors Studio”

*Ages 13-17*
Students will be introduced to professional acting techniques. We will investigate different characters that will be shaped by the students through specific tasks and exercises. This year the emphasis will be given to the body.” Life is expansive and it also expands in territory, physical and psychological, discovering spaces, forms, ideas, meanings, sensations –this should be done as a dialogue: receiving from others what others have created, giving them the best of our own creation. Students will be handed daily monologue and duet scenes to work with. They will explore the character in terms of speech, physicality and background. They will learn different ways of approaching a text. All characters will interact in a specific given circumstance. Examples include: Miming, use of natural environment and improvisation. Therefore, students will explore their vocal capacities, imagination and creativity levels. Students will also have the chance to put together their characters’ costumes and scenery. Students will be asked daily to perform their scenes in front of the class. This will increase their confidence, prove their daily progress and help overcome any stage fright they might have. Teen “Actors Studio” can collaborate with the Hands-On Filmmaking workshop. Teen “Actors Studio” students can act in the short films directed by the Hands-On Filmmaking students. At the end of the workshop, students will be able to present their work in public.

Course aim

In this workshop students will learn how to cooperate and collaborate in a productive and entertaining way. They will get in touch with their emotions and find different ways to express themselves. This workshop will help students discover fears, frustrations, hopes and desires. By the end of this workshop, students will be able to work with confidence within a team as well as independently. Teen “Actors Studio” is designed for teenagers who want to try to get in touch with their inner selves, improvise, explore their imagination and overcome stage fright. All the above steps will not only help the students understand and feel the characters they will perform, but they will also enable them to be able to deliver it in front of an audience in artistic form as an artist.
