Polish language classes are scheduled from Monday to Friday* β language courses include 76 hours of classes and take place during the first half of the day. In the afternoon, students will have an opportunity to participate in various supplementary activities (at least 25 additional hours of classes on Polish language, culture, and history).
Morning language classes will enable course participants to develop their communication skills. During classes, there will also be space for focusing separately on listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students, regardless of their level, will have an opportunity to improve their knowledge of grammar from a pragmatic point of view.
Afternoon activities include language workshops/lectures on the culture and history of Poland, film screenings, visits to museums, theatre improvisation workshop (in Polish only, you will need B1-level language skills), guided walks around Warsaw, dance workshops, meetings with special guests, and integration events.
*On 15 August, which is a national holiday and a "long weekend", there will be no classes.
It is worth checking whether your university, as part of a bilateral agreement with the University of Warsaw, can cover the cost of the course at the Polonicum Centre.
Additional info:
β All our teachers have many years of experience in teaching Polish as a foreign language. A very large group of teachers are also examiners of state exams certifying knowledge of Polish as a foreign language.
β The Polonicum Centre, representing the University of Warsaw, is one of the state examination centres. The Polonicum Centre also conducts university certification at B1 and B2 levels. Most of the Polonicum lecturers are members of the group of experts of the National Agency for Academic Exchange; some of them are responsible for preparing the state exams at the C2 level.
β Each person who registers for the summer course will receive an official e-mail confirmation of acceptance.
β University of Warsaw provides with accommodation for Participants of Polonicumβs course at Zamenhofa Student Dormitory number 4. Most rooms are double rooms.
β The Polonicum Centre only reserves vacancies in the dormitory and negotiates the daily accommodation fee. The dormitory charges are the responsibility of the institution which granted the scholarship (if you are a scholarship holder). If you're a stipendiary of the International Relations Office of the University of Warsaw, they'll be responsible for organising your residence, not the Polonicum Centre.
The price will be announced in July. For comparison, in the summer of 2024 it was 60 PLN / night in a double room
MaΕgorzata Malinowska & Tomasz Wegner
