Masaryk University

Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, is a leading academic institution in Central Europe. Established in 1919 and named after Czechoslovakia’s first president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, MU has grown into a hub of research and education. With 10 faculties, nearly 34,000 students in 500 degree programs, and over 6,500 employees, it fosters academic excellence and innovation.

MU focuses on many disciplines of human knowledge, supports research, and regularly invests in growth. Its buildings and grounds, canteens and libraries in the city centre have been renovated and feature modern equipment. The latest technology is used for online teaching. It is the largest recipient of funds from the Horizon 2020 programme in the Czech Republic. It has also found success in the humanities: the HUME Lab conducts research focusing on understanding human cognition.
